Cal Poly Humboldt celebrating authors
Cal Poly Humboldt will hold the ninth annual “Authors Celebration” Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Cal Poly Humboldt Authors Hall on the second floor of the school’s library.
The event will celebrate Cal Poly Humboldt authors who have published works in 2022, including over 600 authored pieces published by The Press at Cal Poly Humboldt. There will be cake, sparkling cider and trivia, plus an opportunity to win the Staff Council Cookbook 20202021.
The guest author will be alumna Meg Godlewski, Cal Poly Humboldt Class of 1987. Godlewski has been practicing the craft of journalism since her undergrad days beginning at KHSU when she broke the news of the Challenger explosion to Humboldt County.
Enamored with aviation since childhood, Godlewski’s goal was to find a career that combined both aviation and journalism. She spent 10 years as a broadcast journalist while she learned to fly. Godlewski then spent 15 years as a reporter at General Aviation News, a national publication, while she earned her pilot certificates through multi-engine instructor rating.
Today, Godlewski is the technical editor of the internationally known FLYING Magazine and specializes in simulation instruction helping aspiring aviators to acquire the skills they need to be safe in the skies.
The program will also include information about The Press at Cal Poly Humboldt and its goal to provide opportunities for every student to publish before they graduate. All authors are welcome to share about their works during the open mic following the event.
