Doyless Ruth Box

Doyless Ruth Box, 94, passed from this physical world on December 4, 2022, at Citrus Heights Terrace, an Alzheimer’s care facility in Citrus Heights, CA. Great comfort was provided in her final days by the staff of Citrus Heights Terrace, especially by the director, Tina Prewitt, as well as through the excellent care of Sutter Hospice.

Ruth was born in Pilot Point, Texas, on May 17, 1928. She lived in Texas until her mid-teens, when the family moved to Oakland, CA. She married the love of her life, Donald (Don) Box, in 1958, and raised her family in Humboldt County, settling in Fortuna in 1966, where she lived until moving to the Sacramento area a decade later. Ruth loved dancing, telling dirty jokes, cooking for friends and family, and spending time with her family, especially time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Klacik; sons David Klacik and Richard Box; son-in-law Frank Tyas; grandchildren Jason Fletcher (Sadie), Erin Prewitt (Kyle), Allison Padilla (Morgan Fox), Laura Young, Stacey Tyas, Chelsea Wilson (Jake), Kellen Box (Chrissy), Roger Emigh, and Ryan Meadows; great-grandchildren Alexis Young; Elysa Allen; Julian and Clara Wilson; Hailey, Ethan, and Emily Box; Evelyn and Henry Prewitt; as well as sister, Martha Prock (Frank).

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Don Box; daughter, Martha Klacik; parents John and Angie Morse; sister LaVaun Reilly (Larry); brother John Morse; and sonin-law Michael Padilla. Ruth will be interred in a private ceremony on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Park in Eureka, CA.
