Cocktails now served at Eel River Brewing Company
Customers at Eel River Brewing Company's Fortuna pub can now purchase a cocktail with their meal, as well as the locally produced beer, and wines.
What could be a better day to kick off full bar service than on St. Patrick's Day, while Eel River Brewing Company also offered traditional Irish specials including corned beef and cabbage and Irish bangers and mash.
Brewing Company co-owner Matt Vivatson said the full bar license was acquired from a private party that had operated a restaurant business in Arcata which had closed. He said the acquisition process took several months to complete.
“One big thing for us is being next to the hotels in Fortuna,” Vivatason said. “A lot of travelers were coming in to eat and were wanting to have a cocktail with their meal,” he added, “and now they can do that.”
Eel River Brewing Company had to acquire the new license to be able to have full bar service at its Fortuna location. The license, however, does not permit the establishment to sell hard liquor to go.
Under a separate license, the brewing company can manufacture beer, serve beer and wine, and also sell beer and wine to go.
Eel River Brewing Company's Fortuna location will continue to be open to all ages, since food is served on site. All persons interested in purchasing a cocktail must be 21 years old or older.
