Two artists featured at Trinidad Art Gallery
The Trinidad Art Gallery is featuring painter Annie Reid and sculptor Eleanor Seeley this month.
Their combined work in this show celebrates a shared love of winter light and the glow of spirit. For both artists, inspiration for their creations springs from nature, as well as from their individual spiritual paths.
Reid's paintings on exhibit are executed in oil, gouache and archival printmaking. She loves to paint the essence of spirit in outdoor landscapes and studio canvases.
Recently awarded an Ingrid Nickelsen Trust Grant, the artist is embarking on a focused year of capturing on canvas the persistent visions she is attuned to. The pieces in the show represent decades of Reid's painting, including “Flash,” a 2023 oil on canvas and “Little Pine at Cathedral Spires,” an archival print created in memory of Nickelsen, a friend and painting companion.
Seeley's sculptural explorations encompass a range of diverse mediums, including bronze, resin and wool. Seeking to bring warmth to this cold and dark time of year, in this show the artist is featuring soft sculptures that carry the essence of the spirit of light.
The recent additions to her “Wooly Ones” collection of mostly West Coast creatures of the woodlands, includes Hooter the Owl, White Spirit Raven, Snow Bear and The Bird of World Peace.
The gallery, located at 490 Trinity St. in Trinidad, is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day (winter hours through end of March). One of the memberartists is always onsite to welcome visitors. For more information, go to trinidadartgallery.com or call 707677-3770.
