Flea market

Humboldt Grange No. 501 will hold a flea market Saturday, March 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the grange hall, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka. The hall will be filled with 20-plus vendors.

Vendor spaces are still available. Indoor space includes an 8-foot table for $25. Weather permitting, outdoor 10-by-10-feet spaces are available for $15. Tables and chairs are not provided. For more informatio­n, call the grange at 707-442-4890 and press 2 or email 501.humboldt.grange@gmail.com.

Admission to the flea market is free and the public is welcome. The kitchen will be open for lunch.

Marsh tour

Friends of the Arcata Marsh is sponsoring a free tour of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday, March 2.

Meet leader Katy Allen at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Interpreti­ve Center on South G Street for a 90-minute, rain-or-shine walk focusing on marsh plants, history, and/or ecology. For more informatio­n, call 707-826-2359.

Grange pancakes

The Freshwater Grange invites the community to an old-fashioned pancake breakfast March 3 from

8 to 11 a.m. at the grange hall, 48 Grange Road, Freshwater.

The menu includes buttermilk and whole-grain pancakes, ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, apple compote, orange juice, tea and French roast coffee. Top your eggs with homemade salsa and cheese. The cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children.

Ready to groove

The Alpha Rhythm Kings will perform March 7 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Historic Eagle House, corner of Second and C streets, Eureka.

Making their first trip to Humboldt County and fresh off gigs in New York City and Las Vegas, Rob Dehlinger and his Alpha Rhythm Kings will play swing, jump blues, vintage lounge and boogie-woogie tunes.

Weavers meet

The Humboldt Handweaver­s and Spinners Guild will meet March 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Bay Room of the Wharfinger Building, 1 Marina Way, Eureka.

Ann Brezina will present a lecture, “Living the Fiber Lifestyle,” with a discussion on spinning and fiber production. Refreshmen­ts will be available beginning at 6:45 p.m.

About hip hop

Cal Poly Humboldt's 11th annual “Hip Hop Conference: Power to the People” is slated for April 23 to 25.

This event is being organized by the Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies Department. Public Enemy's Chuck D. is the keynote speaker. There will also be panelists, student speakers, food, music and dancing.
