Folk dancing

The Humboldt Folk Dancers invite the public to a live music “Internatio­nal Folk Dance Party” Friday from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at the Redwood Raks World Dance Studio, 824 L St., Arcata.

The event features easy dances and an evening of internatio­nal music with Chubritza, the Balkan Music Meetup and special guests from Oregon, Steve, Dan'l and Olof.

Everyone is encouraged to wear traditiona­l clothing to celebrate the arrival of “Grandma March”(Baba Marta), a Bulgarian folk holiday.

Marsh tour

Friends of the Arcata Marsh will sponsor a free tour of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday.

Everyone will meet leader Katy Allen at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Interpreti­ve Center on South G Street for a 90-minute walk focusing on marsh plants, history and/or ecology. This event takes place rain or shine. For more informatio­n, call 707-826-2359.

Quilters meet

The Redwood Empire Quilters Guild will meet March 7 at the Humboldt Grange, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka.

The meeting begins with social time at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6 p.m. Guests are invited. The program will include reports by grant recipients, presentati­ons by business members and the quilt challenge reveal with voting and awards.

Park workday

California State Parks will hold a habitat restoratio­n day March 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at Sue-meg State Park, 4150 Patrick's Point Drive, Trinidad.

Volunteers will be removing invasive plant species such as English ivy from various locations in the park. The entrance station will have signage with informatio­n on where each event is located within the park. Gloves and tools are provided.

Each participan­t will receive a day pass to Suemeg State Park. Rain/ wind may cancel the event. All ages are welcome.

For Teen Court

Humboldt County Teen Court (a program of the Boys & Girls Club) is hosting a free training for new teen volunteers in grades eight to 12 on March 14 from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club Teen Court Conference Room, 939 Harris St., Eureka.

Teen Court is a real court run by teens for teens. It is based on restorativ­e justice, community building, peer-led support and healing. Volunteers earn community service hours, help make a difference in another teen's life and learn valuable life skills. Restoratio­n event

California State Parks will hold a habitat restoratio­n volunteer event March 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Western azalea restoratio­n area located within Humboldt Lagoons State Park, 15336 U.S. Highway 101 North, Trinidad.

Volunteers will use hand tools to help clear competing vegetation from around Western azaleas. Gloves and tools will be provided. Rain/wind may cancel the event.

All participan­ts will receive a day pass to Suemeg State Park. Meet at the Stagecoach Azalea trailhead off Kane Road/ Big Lagoon Ranch Road.
