Library Day offers books and a tasty dinner menu
What started as just a book sale to benefit the Fortuna Library now includes a delicious chicken cacciatore and polenta dinner.
The annual Fortuna Library Day book sale and dinner will take place Saturday, March 9 at the Fortuna Veterans Hall.
Friends of the Fortuna Library President Carol Kinser said the community support for this event is what makes it happen.
“We have many volunteers who step up and move books from storage, set up for the sale, high school students who set up our tables, and many others who work the day of the sale,” Kinser said.
This year, no book donations are needed, as there are plenty of books available for the event. At the event, there will be new and gently used books on a variety of subjects, including mysteries, romance, westerns, science fiction, history, biographies, and music, including Elvis, the Beatles and rock artists. There are also many how-to books and a children and young adults book section. Hardback books sell for $1 each and paperback books sell for $.50 each.
“We also have a popular special book section where you can find valuable books with prices marked from $1 to $10,” Kinser said.
And there is also a CD/DVD section.
Every year, Milt Conley and family take care of the dinner portion of the event. Dinner is take-out only and will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Reservations for dinner pick-up can be made by calling 725-2931 or at the Fortuna Library.
The hours for Fortuna Library Day on March 9 are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the dinner take-out is from 5 to 7 p.m.
