Incumbent supervisor­s, Van Dyke maintain leads

The Humboldt County Office of Elections released an election update Thursday with the most recent tallies in local races.

Humboldt County Superior Court judge

Incumbent Gregory Kreis faced off with challenger April Van Dyke for a seat on the court. The race has seen the most controvers­y with the incumbent facing multiple allegation­s including drug use, sexual harassment and ethics violations. A late entrant in the race, Jessica Watson, is running as a write-in candidate.

In the most recent voter tally, Kreis holds 38.56% of the vote, Van Dyke has 58.69% and Watson has 2.76%

1st District

Incumbent Rex Bohn faced off against challenger­s Gordon Clatworthy and Jerry McGuire. Bohn holds 64.39% of the tally, while Clatworthy has 23.99% and McGuire follows with 11.61%.

2nd District

Incumbent Michelle Bushnell faced off against challenger­s Jeana McClendon and Brian Roberts. Bushnell holds 59.46% of the votes thus far, McClendon has 34.94% and Roberts has 5.6%.

3rd District

Incumbent Mike Wilson faced was challenged by Roy Gomez in the 3rd District race. Wilson holds 80.67% of the votes in the district while Gomez has 19.33%.

In all three supervisor races and in the judicial contest, the winner must secure 50% of the votes plus one to win the race. All races that end with nobody securing 50% will go to a runoff in November.

Measure A

The initiative, if approved, would change the rules relating to cannabis cultivatio­n in Humboldt County by limiting the number of permits allowed in the county, prohibitin­g new grows larger than 10,000 square feet, and would change the way light-depravatio­n grows are classified.

The most recent tally has the measure failing 73.49% to 26.51%. Measure A requires 50% plus one vote to win.

Measures B

Measure B is a $12.5 million school bond sought by the Arcata Elementary School District.

The measure is passing 71.21% to 28.79%.

Measure B requires 55% of the vote to succeed.

Measure C

Measure C is a special tax for the Fieldbrook Glendale Community Services District that seeks to extend for 10 years a tax per assessor's parcel with the current Measure K expiring July 1.

The measure is passing 88.6% to 11.4%.

Measure C requires twothirds of the vote to pass.
