Stanford star Brink declares for draft
Stanford star Cameron Brink is headed for the WNBA draft after the Cardinal's run in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, the senior announced on social media Tuesday.
Brink, a soon-to-be three-time All-American who had a year of eligibility remaining, said on Instagram that “Although I am excited for that next chapter, we still have unfinished business and so much to accomplish in my final season at Stanford.”
The Cardinal (28-5) is ranked No. 4 in the nation and almost certainly will be a No. 1 seed when the NCAA Tournament bracket is revealed on Sunday.
Brink, who recently was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year for the second time in three seasons, could go as high as the No. 2 overall pick in the WNBA draft behind Iowa's Caitlin Clark. The Los Angeles Sparks hold the No. 2 pick, and are looking to replace another former Stanford frontcourt star, Nneka Ogwumike, who left as a free agents over the winter. Love spent his first three seasons at North Carolina, making a name for himself by hitting big shots during the Tar Heels' run to the 2022 national championship game.
The 6-foot-4 guard helped lead No. 6 Arizona to the final Pac-12 regular-season championship and a potential No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

STRAWBERRY RESTING COMFORTABLY AFTER HEART ATTACK >> Former New York Mets and Yankees star Darryl Strawberry is recovering from a heart attack.
Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said that Strawberry was stricken Monday, a day before the eight-time All-Star's 62nd birthday.
Strawberry, who lives in O'Fallon, Missouri, is resting comfortably, Horwitz said.
