Camp Living Waters is set for July 21 to July 26 at Cookson Ranch in Redwood Valley. The camp is open to youth ages 9 to 15 and youth ages 16 and 17 serve as counselors. To register, go to CampLivingWatersHumboldt.org.

Camp Living Waters is a week-long Episcopal summer camp. “It is a warm, welcoming and joyful community that encourages diversity,” says a camp press release. “It is a nonprofit camp based at St. Alban's Parish in Arcata and draws its staff members from the faith communities of the North Coast who lead, supervise and encourage campers and counselors. The week is based around a daily schedule including crafts, outdoor activities, swimming, Bible discussion, worship and nightly campfire, with additional special activities throughout the week such as stargazing and archery. … The week is spent living and building a Christian community based on the values of love, service and fun.”

Andrew Curtis, who attended Camp Living Waters for six years, described it as follows. “Two words: God's love. This is the entire purpose of the camp. We find it in a multitude of ways: the cool waters of the creek, the fun activities, the delicious food, the support of the staff and counselors. This is the one time in the summer that I look forward to most.”

Camp Living Waters is made possible through donations from throughout the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California, Episcopal Community Services, Christ Church Eureka, St. Francis Fortuna, Episcopal Foundation of Northern California and others.

Tuition for the camp is $200 and includes five nights lodging, meals and activities. For information, go to www.camplivingwatershumboldt.org or call St. Alban's Episcopal Church at 707-822-4102. Call this number to find out more about camperships (camp scholarships), too.
