Friends of the Dunes hires new director
Friends of the Dunes named Ashley Osia as its new development director.
Osia has a decade of experience as a nonprofit executive in Humboldt County. At Friends of the Dunes, she will be responsible for leading the organization's fundraising team and coordinating its annual activities.
“We are excited and grateful to welcome Ashley Osia to our Friends of the Dunes team! I am confident that her experience in fundraising, event planning, marketing and community engagement will be a huge asset to our organization. In addition to being a highly qualified, enthusiastic, and experienced fundraiser and event coordinator, Ashley is passionate about engaging the community in conservation efforts, making her a perfect fit for our work. I am looking forward to working with her to advance our mission of conserving the natural diversity of coastal environments through community-supported education and stewardship programs,” Suzie Fortner, the executive director, said in a prepared statement.
Osia has worked with various nonprofit organizations in the area, including the Humboldt Arts Council, Humboldt Botanical Garden, Discovery Museum, the Greater Trinidad Chamber of Commerce and the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation.
“I am honored to join the staff at Friends of the Dunes and help the organization fulfill its mission,” Osia said. “We all must do our part to preserve and protect the natural world and I hope through this position I will be able to contribute and continue to help planet Earth.”
