Incoherence from Trump on the campaign trail
Donald Trump recently held a rally in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania where he referenced the Civil War battle of Gettysburg. I find his words cast doubt on his mental state.
He begins, “What an unbelievable battle that was. It was so much, and so interesting, and so vicious and horrible, and so beautiful in so many different ways.”
His statement is basically incoherent. Among other things, a normal person would never think to follow “vicious and horrible“with “beautiful,” but Trump does. In fact, he even says the battle is beautiful in more ways than one. I'd love to know what they are.
Trump continues, “Gettysburg, wow — I go to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to look and to watch.” Then he supposedly cites General Robert E. Lee: “Never fight uphill, me boys, never fight uphill. “
Unfortunately, this is not an actual quote, but rather Trump inventing one to likely reinforce his self-designated brilliance.
I'm certain if President Biden had gone off this way, there would be major headlines everywhere questioning his mental competency. So where are those headlines for Trump?
In closing, I offer Trump an actual Gettysburg quote that I hope he will find useful after Election Day: “This has been a sad day for us, Colonel, a sad day; but we can't always expect to gain victories.”
