SUMMER 2013
Delvey, then a Paris-based intern for Purple magazine,
visits the U.S. and decides to stay in New York City. She purports to be a German heiress planning to open
a private arts club.
JULY 2017
After stiffing Manhattan hotels for bills ranging from
$500 to more than $11,000, and attempting to dine and dash at a Midtown restaurant, Delvey is arrested and charged with three misdemeanor
counts. She skips her court date.
OCTOBER 2017
Upon leaving a Los Angeles treatment facility, Delvey is arrested in a sting operation arranged by the
Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
MARCH 2018
New York magazine publishes a story about Delvey, making her instantly infamous. More than a year later she’s found guilty of charges including second-degree grand larceny and is eventually
sentenced to four to 12 years in state prison.
FEBRUARY 2021
Delvey is released, only to surrender herself a month later to immigration officials for overstaying her visa.
She’s currently being held in New Jersey.
