SALOMON PILLOW TALK
MSRP: $450 Lengths 145, 151
Shaped by professional powder prodigy Wolfgang Nyvelt, as part of Salomon’s Hillside Project, this tapered-twin is feminine-friendly and excels in many conditions, especially Baldface’s pristine pow. Its wide design and Rock Out Camber profile is complimented by a healthy dose of early rise in the broad nose and a little in the tail. Float was achieved with minimal effort, and we were pleasantly surprised with its maneuverability through tight trees and propensity to pop over everything— especially pillows, as its name suggests. As the go-to deck for big mountain badass Annie Boulanger, its camber dominance has the right amount of power to stomp a landing or etch a sweeping turn in untouched pow, while remaining playful enough to make minute maneuverings. The shape is distinctly directional but not so much as to impede switch riding. We were able to lock in landings, and snap spins extra easily with this thing. You’d be hard pressed to find another deck that offers the amount of versatility and pleasurable performance of the Pillow Talk. No matter where you plan to let her loose, she rips.
