Autograph Collection (thebarfield.com; doubles from $175) is the newest high-end hotel in the Panhandle, with 112 leatheraccented rooms and, in the basement, a chic revival of a real Prohibition-era speakeasy. The historic building’s original owner was local legend Melissa Dora Oliver-Eakle (nicknamed “The Duchess”), who came to town during its rise as a cattle-trading hub off Route 66 in the early 20th century.
