The skillet is the Disco’s discada-inspired cooking surface. Shaped like a shallow wok and measuring 15.75 inches in diameter, the skillet is made of Meehanite ® cast iron, which means that it’s strong and remarkably durable. It features a non-stick enamel coating that makes it easy to clean. No seasoning or oiling necessary. Just hand wash it and it’s ready for the next meal. We really like its two removable grab handles that make it a cinch to move around, even right off the fire.

While Disco can be set up to cook over a traditional campfire, it also has a gas-powered stove component. The versatile stove can be used on the tripod or directly on a table or other surfaces with its legs deployed. It’s made by Kovea, a leader in camping stoves, so you can be confident that it’ll perform well. The stove is powered by either butane or propane canisters. An easy-to-use igniter is provided so getting the heat going is a snap.

The fourth piece of the system is the Disco table. Table space while outdoors, especially when cooking, is always at a premium. The Disco’s wood table installs onto the tripod and provides a convenient surface to place ingredients, drinks or cooking utensils. Its handy table features a hanger rail and two cup holders.

We used the Disco Series on several trips and tried heating the skillet with its included stove, as well as directly over a campfire. While using a one-pound propane tank to power the Kovea stove, the skillet’s heat could be adjusted just as you would with a regular camp stove. The skillet was plenty wide and allowed us to make a giant breakfast skillet for sharing, as well as quesadillas and even chow mein.

We moved the tripod so that it sat over a campfire to see just how the Disco cooks directly over fire. That’s when things got interesting. Using the chain and pulley system that hangs over a fire, temperature can be adjusted. If you want more heat, lower the pulley. If you’re ready to cool things off, simply pull it up. It’s simple, effective and dare we say fun too.

iKamper’s Disco Series is lightweight, portable, powerful and built to last. It lets you boil up tea or coffee while you’re sitting low and relaxing on a beach chair. Or while standing up, one can cook up a feast for a group of hungry campers. There’s a reason why discada-style cooking has been around for over a hundred years, and we believe with the Disco Series, that iKamper has improved upon it.
