Veronica (Roo) Kathleen Lewis died October 31, 2018 at the age of 36 surrounded by her family at Kadlec Hospital in Richland. She was the wife of Jack Zelzer and the daughter of Kathy and Don Lewis.
Veronica was born September 1, 1982 at Kadlec Hospital and spent most of her life growing upona Roza farm and attending Prosser Schools until graduation in 2001.
Veronica attended WSU at Clark College campus in Vancouver for her freshman year, living with her Aunt Kathy in Portland. She graduated from WSU TriCities with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2010. She met her future husband, Jack, in 2007 and they were married in a beautiful, candle-lit ceremony at her parents’ home July 27, 2013.
Veronica loved reading, acting, music, dance, theater, concerts, gaming, her beloved Packers, and, most of all, she loved being Aunt Roo to her precious nieces and nephews. She accomplished all this in the face of a Muscular Dystrophy diagnosis at the age of 17. Through it all, she never let it define her and she maintained a positive attitude and a brilliant sense of humor.
Veronica is survived by: husband Jack Zelzer of Richland; parents Kathy & Don Lewis of Prosser; siblings: Andrea (Kyle), Chloe & Jay Underwood of Prosser; Tricia Niemi of Portland, OR; Heath (Michele), Kimber & Kendall Niemi of Dallas, TX; Grandfather Dick Hileman of Prosser. In laws: Norma & Chris Zelzer of Cascade, MT; Josie (Chance), Calex, Brynley & Bridger Buchanan of Fort Worth, TX; Genevieve (Michael) Brannin of Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Nancy & Don Lewis and Erma Hileman.
A small family celebration of life was held November 3rd. Graveside and interment will be held later in the spring. Condolences may be sent to PO Box 628, Prosser, WA 99350.
