High-scoring first half propels Beggs past Victory Christian
BEGGS — In a 2A clash featuring two high-powered offenses, No. 2 Beggs attacked early and often, scoring seven first-half touchdowns en route to a 70-42 win against No. 5 Victory Christian on Friday night.
Beggs coach David Tenison said the game plan called for a balanced attack, but the Golden Demons found continual success on the ground, so they kept feeding their backs the ball.
Beggs (6-1, 4-0 2A-3) averaged more than six yards on the ground, gaining 317 yards on 49 carries. The Demons were led by senior running back duo of Kayson Tolliver and Jared Sutter. Tolliver finished with 104 yards on 14 carries and three touchdowns, while Sutter finished with 14 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Dalton Spring did all his passing work in the first half completing 7-of-8 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 27 yards and a TD.
“He had a great game last week, too,” Tenison said. “We have so many weapons. We've got three to four tailbacks we can hand the ball to. We've got four to five receivers we can throw the ball to. We are a diverse team. We knew in the third quarter we didn't have to Victory Christian 13 8 8 13 — 42 Beggs 21 28 14 7 — 70
