Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals: The Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals returns this week to the River Spirit Expo at Expo Square. The annual competition for midget sprint car racing attracts more than 200 talented drivers from around the world. Five qualifying nights lead up to the championship competition Saturday. See cars zoom around the clay oval track and perform stunts. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. ”Beauty and the Beast”: Theatre Tulsa will present a new production of “Beauty and the Beast,” the magical story about a cold-blooded prince who has been magically transformed into an unsightly creature as punishment for his selfish ways. To revert into his true human form, the Beast must first learn to love a young woman whom he has imprisoned in his enchanted castle before it is too late. Performances this week are at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday at the Tulsa PAC, 110 E. Second St. Tickets are $29-$46 and are available by calling 918-596-7111 or at tulsapac.com.
Metallica: Metallica will return to Tulsa for the first time in 10 years to help the BOK Center celebrate its 10th anniversary. The heavy metal band formed in 1981 and has since produced 10 studio albums. Metallica has won multiple Grammys with hits such as “Stone Cold Crazy,” “The Call of Ctulu” and “One.” The group is set to perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the BOK Center.
