Valentine's Day fundraiser to feature Spider-Man wedding
For fans of the Marvel Universe, what could be more romantic than a Spider-Man wedding on Valentine's Day?
Tulsa Pop Kids, a charitable organization that seeks to boost literacy through pop culture, is staging a Thursday, Feb. 14, fundraiser that will feature a mock SpiderMan and Mary Jane Watson wedding.
Sponsored by J. David Jewelry, the event will include a wedding ceremony followed by a dinner reception catered by Andolini's and Uncle John's Catering. The menu will include pizza, pasta and salad with nonalcoholic drinks and a wedding cake.
Wedding guests can get a photo taken with the happy couple and/or the wedding party. Limitededition wedding T-shirts will be available. The event is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. at Center Central at Centennial Park, 1028 E. Sixth St. Tickets can be purchased at purchase.growtix.com/ eh/Tulsa_Pop_Kids_ Events_2019/24271
VIP tickets ($60) include the ceremony, reserved seating, dinner reception, cake, T-shirt and photo op. Single general admission tickets ($40) include the ceremony, dinner reception and cake. Couple's general admission tickets are $75 with the same perks as the single ticket.
Photo ops are $10 with the couple and $15 with the wedding party. Wedding T-shirts are $15. All proceeds go to Tulsa Pop Kids.
In the comic book realm, Spider-Man and Mary Jane were married in Amazing Spider-Man Annual No. 21, published in 1987. The wedding was undone, as if it had never existed, in 2007, when Marvel decided SpiderMan needed to return to his single roots.
Characters representing Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson will participate in a mock wedding Thursday, Feb. 14, in Tulsa as a fundraiser for Tulsa Pop Kids. Limited-edition shirts will be available.
