Good, clean family fun (with a little bit of smoke)
Diesel motorsports is a fun family activity with something for nearly every gearhead to enjoy—be it drag racing, dyno battles, sled pulls or show rigs. After spending the winter away from the tracks and action, what do you most look forward to seeing or competing in for 2018?
Is your truck ready? You don’t have to have a 3,000-hp fire-breathing diesel monster to compete and have fun. Many local sled pulls feature a true street stock or work stock class where nearly stock diesel trucks can come and play with the sled. Running your truck on the dyno to see how much more power those upgrades you installed over the winter are giving you can bring great satisfaction. You can also try your hand at bracket racing on the drag strip with a bone-stock diesel car or truck and have a blast. Even if you are only doing 50-60 mph it can still be exhilarating taking the lights and heading down the track. Grab your friends and family and go out and hit one of the diesel events closest to you. You’ll be glad you did. Also, don’t forget to send us your submissions for a chance to be featured as a UDBG Reader’s Ride and see your vehicle gracing these pages.
The main focus of this issue is big power diesels and tech to make or handle more power, but you don’t need record-setting power to have fun! We have five amazing vehicle features in this issue. Check out the latest on new factory diesel efforts from the NAIAS as well as cool parts from the Performance Racing Industry show. There’s also much more, including 22 pages of tech articles to help you go faster and handle more power. One of our feature vehicles is Donavan Harris’ Armor Inc. truck (starting on page 20), which will be one of the many contenders vying for the coveted UCC 2018 Championship—and trying to prevent a Lavon Miller/firepunk Diesel 3-Peat. We’ve worked hard to bring you as much diesel action, features and tech as we can fit in the magazine, and we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoy putting it together.
