THE MALDIVES

Soneva Jani, part of the luxury resort operator Soneva, made its debut in November 2016 on the island of Medhufaru, part of an uninhabited five-island cluster in the Noonu Atoll of The Maldives. The resort's 24 over-water villas, ranging from one to four bedrooms, are located within a 3.5 mile lagoon of crystal clear waters with uninterrupted 360° views of the Indian Ocean.

Every water villa is two stories, features a private pool with catamaran nets, and opens to its own stretch of lagoon, with some villas featuring slides going directly from the top deck into the sea below. The highlight of the water villas are the retractable roofs in the master bedrooms (which slide back at the touch of a button so guests can lie in bed and stargaze).

Their most luxurious villa is the 4-bedroom Water Reserve, a massive 13,196-square-foot overwater villa offering incredible views of the Indian Ocean. This huge villa features three private bedrooms, in addition to a study, gym, an outdoor shower and daybed, TV lounge, walk-in minibar and a sleeping area for kids, as well as a water slide from the top deck into the lagoon below.
