BRITANNIA

NORWAY, EUROPE

-

After a four-year, US$160 million renovation, Norway’s iconic Britannia had its grand reopening on April 1, 2019. A member of Leading Hotels of the World, the 246-room, 11suite property is set in the city of Trondheim, located on the fjords of central Norway and just sixty miles south of the Arctic Circle.

Originally opened in 1870 for aristocratic Britons in search of the world’s best salmon fishing, the property was long considered the world’s most northerly palace hotel. After 150 years of operation, Norwegian billionaire Odd Reitan closed the property for a head-to-toe restoration, ushering the hotel into the 21st century with the latest technology, enhanced amenities, and cutting-edge Norwegian and Scandinavian design and art.

The new Britannia Spa features a heated indoor pool, six treatment rooms, multiple saunas, an ice bath, relaxation room, Jacuzzi, gym, infrared cabin and more. Beautifully designed, the Britannia Spa is a modern, elegant oasis of tranquility. Featuring an extensive menu, experience the ultimate in relaxation for the mind and body.

Under the helm of Bocuse d’Or Silver medal winner, Christopher Davidsen, all six restaurants and bars began serving guests today, including The Palm Court, the glass-domed cafe that was originally the “meeting place” of Trondheim society, a lush and exotic oasis or international flavors, art and culture from all over the world. Palmehaven is an institution in Trondheim, a venue for culinary and cultural events, where the atmosphere meets traditions.

Speilsalen (The Mirror Hall) is reminiscent of a palace ballroom, encircled with beautiful mirrors and dining here was unlike anything else in town. Here, you can enjoy a fixed-course in this finedining restaurant, hosted by World Champion Chef and Bocuse d’Or silver medalist 2017 Christopher Davidsen. His dishes will mirror the spectacles of the past and entice food enthusiasts from around the world, with ground-breaking cuisine.

Jonathan Grill is the first restaurant in Norway with signature Japanese smoke-free grills, where you can cook your own meat, fish, seafood, and vegetables. Dry-aged cuts of the finest meat, game, offal and wild poultry. Norwegian seafood and hand caught shellfish, alongside the freshest local vegetables. All expertly prepared and delivered to the table, accompanied by signature sauces and side dishes.
