MB&F Horological Machine
No9 ‘Flow’
Inspired by the dynamic profiles of automotive and aviation mid-century design, MB&F presents the Horological Machine N°9 ‘Flow’. From design to fruition the timepiece took four years taking cues from their popular Thunderbolt (driver watch concept) horological machine. The hours and minutes are read from a gauge on the side of the watch with two reversed cones on the side, designed to look like a jet engine.
It debuts in two titanium editions limited to 33 pieces each featuring an audacious design with extreme curves and acute angles. Priced at $182,000 the “Road” edition has a rose gold-plated movement and speedometer-style dial while the “Air” edition features a blacked-out movement and aviator-style dial.
The ninth iteration of the horological watch from HB&F is far from a conventional watch, doubling as wrist-wearable art. Its case material is grade 5 titanium with a speedometer style dial for the Road variant; cockpit instrument style for the Air variant. Measuring 57mm × 47mm × 23mm, its strap is a hand-stitched brown calf leather strap with folding titanium buckle and is water resistant up to 30-meters.
The manual winding machine, which was fully developed in house, with a frequency of 2.5Hz, features two independent oscillators and 44 jewels. The gearbox, center of the watch, is visible through the center sapphire crystal with the balance wheels on each side.
