Homemade Salve
You can easily and quickly make your own herbal antiseptic salve. This ointment is good for use on people, chickens, dogs, horses and other animals, as well.
INGREDIENTS
2 1⁄2 ounces beeswax
3⁄4 cup coconut oil
1⁄4 teaspoon liquid vitamin E (to help repair damaged skin)
10 drops calendula oil (anti-inflammatory, aids in healing wounds)
10 drops lavender oil (relaxant, pain reliever, antibacterial, antifungal)
10 drops lemon oil (anti-bacterial, antiviral)
PREPARATION
Grate the beeswax and melt it with the coconut oil over low heat in a double boiler, stirring occasionally. Once melted, remove from the heat and stir in the vitamin E and essential oils. Pour into a small covered metal or glass container, and allow to set. Store in a cool, dark place, and liberally apply to cuts and scrapes as needed, as you would a commercial antiseptic ointment.
