THE HOMECOMING KING

US Weekly - - US MUSTS -

They’re the perfect match. Dermot Mulroney reunites with his My Best Friend’s Wedding costar Julia Roberts for the third time in Amazon’s new thriller, Homecoming (Nov. 2). The pair first played best friends in the 1997 rom-com, then played near-inlaws in August: Osage County in 2014. Now, he’s taking on the role of her boyfriend. “It’s only taken 30 years,” jokes Roberts, 50. “It’s always been such a privilege to work with Julia,” adds Mulroney, 54. “I’ve had incredible scenes with this incredible actor and she just happens to be my best friend.”

THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP In fact, he was caught off guard when he got the call for the drama, which also stars Bobby Cannavale and Stephan

James. “This would be a privilege for any actor,” he says, adding that the dialogue in the series was unlike anything he had ever read. “We’d sit there and we’d talk through [it] and it has all these nuances and different parts of the story coming through simple dialogue,” he raves. “It’s put together in a beautiful fashion.”

“I couldn’t believe it,” Mulroney says of the chance to costar again with Roberts (with castmates Cannavale and James, right) .
