Arie & Lauren Are Having a Baby! The Bachelor’s Arie Luyendyk and fiancée Lauren Burnham share their exciting news exclusively with Us

US Weekly - - INSIDE US -

(in Arizona on Nov. 12) share their big news exclusively with Us!

This was the one plan they hadn’t made yet. Former Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. and fiancée Lauren Burnham were knee-deep in preparations for their upcoming wedding when Lauren (who turns 27 on Nov. 19) started to feel off. “I kind of had a feeling that I might be pregnant. So my friend insisted on bringing a pregnancy test over,” says Lauren, who took it later that night — but made the former race car driver, 37, read the results! “Arie came out with the test in his hand and tears in his eyes. He was like, ‘You’re pregnant!’” Still in disbelief, the pair drove to the store and bought six more tests. “Lauren took all of them and they were all positive,” says Arie. “We weren’t trying, but we are so excited. It’s going to be a whole new chapter in our lives.” As they eagerly await their baby’s June arrival, the parents-to-be sat down with to share their excitement.

Congratulations! You guys must be so excited!

We’re definitely surprised, but really, really happy.

It’s pretty cool. The due date is June 4.

Lauren, how are you feeling?

October was miserable. I had really bad morning sickness and barely left the house. But over the last week I’ve started feeling a lot better, so it’s nice to have my energy back.

Has Arie been taking care of you?

He does everything!

I take care of our dogs and make sure we all have plenty of food. It’s been really cool ’cause we’d been traveling so much and this kind of came at a time when we didn’t really have any commitments.

Have you had any cravings?

The first couple of weeks I wanted beef jerky all day, every day, which is not me at all. I don’t really eat beef jerky ever, or any kind of red meat.

That was the first clue I had that she was pregnant! It was, like, 11:30 in the morning and she was like, “I just want meatballs so bad.” She was craving meat the entire week before we found out.

After the test came back positive, who was the first person you told?

I told my sister first, the day after we found out.

Yeah, and then we told my

parents and then her parents shortly after that. My mom and dad teared up. They’ve wanted grandkids forever.

His mom has been pushing them on me ever since I met her, actually!

Do you know the sex yet?

We do, but we plan to announce it at our wedding because we’ll have everyone in one place. We have to be careful not to slip before that!

Speaking of your wedding, has anything changed now that you’ve learned you’re expecting?

The first thing we thought of was, “Oh my gosh. Our wedding!” Obviously we’re not married yet, but this is the way it happened — and this is probably the way it was meant to happen.

I think [our guests] are going to

be really excited for us knowing that we’re having a baby — maybe it’ll be a little bit more exciting to them.

Did you have your wedding dress picked out already? Have you had to redo fittings?

Well, actually, I’m trying on my wedding dress for the first time today, so I’m going to talk to my designer [Hayley Paige] about that.

Are you showing yet?

I don’t feel like I’ve changed too much, but I definitely feel fluffier than I normally feel. I wear leggings a lot now.

Have you been keeping up with any workouts at all?

When I wasn’t feeling that great, I was trying to go on a lot of walks. But now I do cycling a few times a week; and I just got a new trainer who’s helping me.

What do you guys think you’ll be like as parents?

I’ll be such a softie. Lauren is a little bit more the disciplinarian.

We’re kind of basing it off of how we parent our dogs for the most part!

What are you nervous about?

Oh my gosh, a million things.

That we’re gonna give them a bad name and they’ll get made fun of for the rest of their lives.

We’ve gotta give the baby a nonnerdy name.

Do you have one picked out yet?

We’re working on it. We want it to flow, which is hard with my last name, to be honest.

What about the nursery? Have you started on that yet?

I think we’re going to kind of continue the style we have throughout our house and kind of...

We can’t give away too much!

I’m not going to talk colors! Just a mix of textures and woods and furs.

You’ve said you want more kids one day. Do you have a timeline?

I was excited at first to have a bunch of kids back-to-back, but I just had probably the most miserable month of my life. So I think we’re going to see how the first one goes and then decide after that.

What are you most looking forward to once the baby arrives?

At this point I just want to make sure we have a healthy baby.

I’m just excited to see Arie [as a father] because I know he’s going to be really good with the baby.

You’re sweet babe, thank you.

“I’ll be 11 weeks tomorrow,” she told Us on Nov. 12. “We’re just taking it all in,” Arie (at home with Lauren in Arizona) says of the happynews.

“It’s been so hard keeping this a secret,”says Arie.

He presented Lauren with a 3.65-carat Neil Lane sparkler on the March 6 After the Final Rose special. “I had to follow my heart,” Arie told Us after calling off his engagementto Becca.

“January can’t come soon enough,” Arie wrote on Instagram, sharing the save-the-date card.
