Tom Felton’s New Origin

-

He may be best known as Harry Potter’s Draco Malfoy, but Tom Felton is taking on a new adventure in YouTube Premium’s Origin, in which he plays Logan, part of a group of strangers stranded on a spacecraft. The 31-year-old dissects the sci-fi drama with Us. Q: Why were you drawn to this role? I read the first two episodes and just thought it was a really cool, different show. It felt like something that was familiar and yet had never been done in this kind of way before, with each episode looking into a flashback of the characters — some of them in different languages or in different parts of the world. There was kind of a multinationalism to the show. Plus, [the creator] was Mika Watkins. She’s a fearless writer and was fairly convincing. Q: What do you need in your trailer on set?

Sex, drugs, rock & roll!

I’m joking. I always have a guitar, bottles of water and snacks of some sort, like popcorn or chocolate! Q: How was it reuniting

with Natalia Tena?

Neither of us had any idea. We never actually worked together before, just knew each other from [Harry Potter] promotional stuff. She’s as much fun as she is talented.

Q: Do you hope to work with more of your Harry Potter costars? We do want to work together on something! Daniel [Radcliffe] and I talk about how one day I’ll get to play the good guy and he’ll play the villain. You never know.
