BIRTHDAY BOY!

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge pull out all the stops for George’s big day

Inside Prince George’s magical sixth-birthday party, from the guest list to his gifts.

In the months leading up to his sixth birthday on July 22, Kate Middleton and Prince William’s eldest son, Prince George, couldn’t stop talking about his upcoming milestone. And now that it’s almost here, “he’s literally been counting the days,” a royal insider says about the adorable future king. “He’s been boasting to family and friends that he’s about to turn 6 and is so grown-up.”

To mark the special occasion, Kate and William are throwing a blowout bash for the ages. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have gone all out to organize a birthday party for George,” the insider reveals to Us. Hands-on mom Kate, 37, “has done most of the organizing herself,” says the source, but William, also 37, has pitched in too. The festivities will be set at Kensington Palace, with all of George’s closest schoolmates in

attendance, along with his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1. From George’s presents to the activities,

Us unravels the specifics of the prince’s special day.

ALL THE DETAILS

The agenda is chock-full of entertainment for George and his guests. In addition to a bouncy castle fit for a royal, Kate and William have hired a magician. “George loves magic,” says the insider, adding that it was William’s idea to have a magic show put on for the kids. As for the party provisions, Kate and William have enlisted caterers to provide all the birthday boy’s favorite foods. “Kate’s asked them to make pizza, pasta and sliders,” says the insider. The icing on top of the proverbial cake will be the dessert selection. “They wanted cupcakes, an ice cream machine and candy,” adds the source, who says Kate makes allowances for sugary treats on special occasions. “She generally ensures that her kids stick to a healthy diet,” says the source, “but birthdays are different.”

George’s gift wish list is small, but specific. “He loves nature and building things,” reveals the insider, “and has asked for a pair

of binoculars for birdwatching and an electric kids’ car, which many of his school friends have.” Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have crafted homemade cards for their big brother — who, according to the insider, “is very protective of his younger siblings.” Charlotte even drew a picture of George on her card, and the source says Kate and William let her pick out a present on her own.

FUN IN THE SUN

It’s already been a great — and active — summer for little George. He was spotted kicking around a soccer ball with Charlotte on the sidelines of his father’s charity polo match on July 10, and soon he’ll join his family on a private family vacation. “When they’re home at Anmer Hall or Kensington Palace, George, Charlotte and Louis are always outside,” says the insider. “It’s very important to Kate that they get a lot of fresh air, so she’s always planning little adventures for the kids to go on.”

And the future king does enjoy spending time with his siblings. “George and Charlotte have a blast playing together,” says the source. “Charlotte’s a bit of a tomboy and loves climbing and sports, and now that Louis is slightly older, they include him in their activities.”

George takes his duties as big brother pretty seriously too. “Although Charlotte’s much bossier than George, she looks up to him,” says the source. “They squabble over small things like toys, but a majority of the time they get along.” (They’re also big fans of their new cousin, Archie. Says the source, “They all dote on him. Charlotte treats Meghan and Harry’s son like a little doll and is always asking after him.”)

REGULAR KID

Despite the upcoming party, Kate and William are determined to avoid spoiling their brood. “They go out of their way to make sure the children have a normal upbringing,” says the insider. That means boundaries, rules and a hard 7 p.m. bedtime. “William’s a little stricter than Kate,” adds the source, “but he adores the children.” Grand overtures are reserved for very special events only — like, of course, a sixth-birthday party! “George is so calm, curious and well-behaved, and Kate and William feel so blessed to have him,” says the source. “They really wanted to throw him a party to remember!”
