Summer Bucket List

Before it’s time for the kids to head back to school, make like these celebs and eke out every last bit of summer-vacation joy

SUMMER MOVIES

Is there any season as fun and kid-friendly as summer when it comes to movies? Bonus: Lots of AC! Nick Cannon enjoys taking his kids to the latest releases and tells Us, “They love movies. Obviously, we saw The Lion King, that was a big thing. We saw Spider-Man.” See ’em on the big screen before the bell rings.

FIREWORK DISPLAYS

Make summer a literal blast by catching one last light show in the sky. During July Fourth weekend, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard hit the beach in Michigan for a pyrotechnics show with daughters Delta and Lincoln. We can’t think of a better way for kids to end summer with a bang before hitting the books.

DAYS AT THE LAKE

Life is just better at the lake, so pinpoint the nearest body of water while you can.

Modern Family’s Julie Bowen was all smiles on the water with her son, Oliver, during a trip to Lake Placid on July 25. “It was Oliver’s idea to go kayaking — he was less enthusiastic about the paddling,” she jokes.

PICNICS IN THE PARK

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend know their way around a kitchen, so it’s no surprise that their kiddos have pretty high expectations for alfresco eating. Teigen says daughter Luna, 3, wanted “a very fancy picnic, so Mom and Dad delivered. Before brownbag season begins, follow their lead and hit the grass!

BASEBALL GAMES

Mario Lopez’s kids, Gia, 8, and Dominic, 5 (here with mom Courtney), always root for the home team, the celeb host tells Us. “We go to a lot of Dodger games,” he says. Wherever you are, head to your nearest stadium before school starts for a family day as precious as a (baseball) diamond.

FROZEN TREATS

We eat ice cream yearround, but there’s something extra special about getting in summer’s last licks while it’s still warm out. Take a cue from Busy Philipps, who treated her 11-yearold, Birdie, and her

bestie to cones.
