The CW has always said that Supernatural would continue

until stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki wanted to stop. That time has finally come. The actors announced that an action-packed season 15 will be its last — and they both already know how the series ends. “We’re very happy,” says Padalecki. “We know there’s no ending where everyone’s going to be happy.” And that includes Jensen, who had a tough time reading the last act: “It took a while to settle in. I’m just really emotionally connected, and saying goodbye isn’t an easy process.”
