Ant Anstead is looking on the bright side as he coparents Amelie, 18, Archie, 15, and Hudson, 2, with ex-wives Louise Storey and Christina Haack. “I’m responsible for my portion,” the Radford Returns star, 42, says. “I choose to lean into the positive side of parenting… If you make a decision that puts the children first, it’s probably the right decision.” Here, the master mechanic, who’s been dating Oscar winner Renée Zellweger since last summer, tells Us more about his tight-knit trio.
Q: How did Renée meet your kids?
Many, many times on FaceTime. It wasn’t a case of
“Hey, here’s someone new.”
It was all very organic.
Q: Advice for raising teens?
When I see them… I take time off. I make sure I’m present. I like being a present parent. I like being invested in my children.
Q: What do you talk about?
Nothing is off the table. We have a WhatsApp group, which is titled Best Friends because that’s what we are.
We talk like best friends. My kids approach me for advice all the time.
Q: How do they feel about your relationship with Renée?
They can sense when I’m happy or not because they’re my kids — they’re part of my DNA. You can’t fake it.
