What I Love Now
It’s been a whirlwind month for actress and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills favorite Garcelle
Beauvais, who’s busy promoting her new Lifetime movie, Caught in His Web, on top of her hosting duties at The Real. But it’s also an important one:
Black History Month.
Below, Garcelle, 55, who’s been working in Hollywood since 1984 in memorable roles opposite stars like Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx, shares some of the Black entertainers she’s admired along the way.
Q: Are there any shows with Black-led casts that you’re loving?
Obviously Black-ish.I think it did such a great job with talking about things that were a little uncomfortable and turning it into something that was entertaining for the whole family.
Q: How about films?
I have to go with King Richard. I loved it so much, and I learned so much. I mean, we all knew about Venus and Serena Williams, but I loved getting to see their father’s story. I honestly forgot it was Will Smith playing him while I was watching it!
Q: Who inspires you?
There are so many! Michelle Obama. And I have to say, the women at The Real. I really feel that even though we have all these women of color on this panel with different ideas and opinions, we still have cool, respectful conversations.
