It’s getting serious! Insiders reveal how Pete Davidson helped Kim Kardashian open her heart again
They said it wouldn’t last. But nearly five months after Kim Kardashian hit it off with Pete Davidson during her successful Saturday Night Live hosting gig, the reality star and the Staten Island-bred comedian are still going strong — and proving the haters wrong. “Kim adores Pete,” says a source. “They spend as much time together as they can. Things are moving quickly.”
At first, it seemed Davidson was just a fling for Kardashian, 41, who announced her divorce from rapper Kanye West last February. But multiple insiders say the unlikely relationship between the tattooed 28-year-old funnyman and the makeup and beauty mogul (who shares children North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2, with West) is much more than a rebound. “Everyone is surprised that things are getting so serious [between them],” says a second source. “But the people around Kim are very happy for her. She’s having a lot of fun with Pete.” Adds the first source: “Kim and Pete are very much in love and committed to each other. They’re both excited for what the future holds.”
PERFECT MATCH
As Kardashian’s high-profile split from West continues to play out in the public eye, Davidson has become the perfect escape. “The divorce is turning dark, and having someone funny at Kim’s side is really helping,” says the second
source, noting that the pair prefer low-key, no-frills date nights to parading around at red carpet events. (During an interview in early February, Davidson said when he’s not working, he likes to “either hang with my friends or chill with my girlfriend inside.”) “They’ll watch movies at his apartment or stay at a hotel,” continues the first source, adding that since both stars have demanding public lives, “they want to have some balance with quiet nights together.”
The first source says Kardashian and Davidson never run out of things to talk about. “They’ll have a long dinner and sit at the table and talk for hours and hours about everything from their families and politics to their hobbies and places they’ve traveled,” the source shares. “Pete’s a great listener, and Kim’s been filling him in on her legal ambitions and how they will fit in with her overall brand.”
They are respectful of each other’s career demands and hectic schedules — while still managing to put each other first. “Kim and Pete have busy lives, so whoever they date would have to be OK with that,” says the second source. “They want to spend time together but have no problem with the long-distance thing, it’s not an issue.” The first source notes that they’re enjoying the best of both worlds between Davidson’s home base on the East Coast and Kardashian’s in California. “She’s enjoyed getting to know his world in New York City and introducing him to her family and friends in Los Angeles.”
It’s a win-win all around. “They are opening new doors for each other socially and professionally,” the source explains, “and boosting their star power and brands.” Kardashian is said to be excited about getting to know some of Davidson’s SNL buddies and their partners, including new parents John Mulaney and Olivia Munn and Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson. According to the second source, “Kim and
Pete had a double date with Colin and Scarlett at their house in L.A., which was fun for both of them.”
REAL DEAL
There’s already some talk of settling down together.
“Everyone knows Kim is a relationship person,” dishes the first source, “and Pete has shared his hopes for the future, which include getting married and having kids, for sure.” (However, the source says Davidson and Kardashian agree now is not the time for him to meet her kids, given the ongoing tension with West, 44.) The second source says marriage has come up “in a playful way because Kim and Pete both like each other so much.”
Davidson — who’s dated his fair share of famous women, including his former fiancée, Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley and Phoebe Dynevor — would have the Kardashian-Jenner blessing.
“Pete gets on great with Kourtney, Khloé and Kris, who thinks he’s a real doll,” says the source, adding that it’s likely he’ll be featured in their upcoming Hulu reality series. “He’s definitely a huge hit with Kim’s family.”
STAYING GROUNDED
For now, they’re enjoying the ride. “Talk of marriage and babies is all cart-beforethe-horse stuff at this point,” says the first source, adding that any next steps between Davidson and Kardashian would wait until her divorce goes through. “They’re trying not to get too swept up or carried away.”
It’s a no-pressure situation. “Kim is focused on her kids first and foremost, and Pete is mindful and respectful of that, and he’s happy for things to happen on her terms,” explains the first source. Kardashian is thrilled to have him by her side, now more than ever. “Kim loves Pete’s sense of humor, but she also sees his depth and intelligence, which she finds so cool and sexy,” continues the first source. “Every time they hang out, it’s like they strengthen that connection and come away feeling more convinced it’s meant to be.”
