The issue between Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson began when they clashed on the set of 2017’s The Fate of the Furious. “Some [male costars] conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” Johnson wrote on social media at the time. Diesel later admitted his role as a producer on the film may have caused some problems. “I could give a lot of tough love, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get [the] performances [I wanted].” Still, he hoped to make amends, and in 2021, publicly pleaded with Johnson to come back for Fast 10. Johnson declined: “I [will] always root for the franchise to be successful, but [there’s] no chance I would return.”
