When she was quizzed about her rumored relationship with Ashton Kutcher at a 2012 press event for her movie debut, Battleship, she simply said, “Wow, how disappointing was that question.” Three years later, after being asked about what she was looking for in a man, she retorted: “I’m not looking for a man. Let’s start there.”

The Get Out star shut down an Oscars red carpet reporter in 2018 who noted that the racial themes in the film (inset) “ticked a lot of boxes.” The British thespian winced and replied, “They’re not boxes, though. Articulating a Black experience is not a box. We’re articulating our truth. We’re human beings.”
