Lucy and Desi

-

If you watched Being the Ricardos and were dismayed writer-director Aaron Sorkin skimped on a few key details about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s relationship — like, say, the dynamic of their marriage beyond one week in 1951 — then you’ll love this insightful documentary. Directed by Amy Poehler, it’s the complete chronicle of how the unlikely TV legends met in 1940s Hollywood and went on to become superstars. While they ultimately split because of infidelity (and enjoyed long, successful second marriages), their daughter and friends confirm the two never lost their affection for each other, right through Arnaz’s last moments in 1986. This one truly has its heart in the right place.
