Hotels are at your service

- By Ayesha Court

In the push to personalize stays, hotel staffs haven’t forgotten leisure travelers. Nor have they forgotten celebrities who have come to expect special treatment. Examples:

uAt the Phoenician resort in Scottsdale, Ariz., the staff will stock a family’s minibar with homemade baby food. Returning toddlers receive “ Sonoran critters,” stuffed animals including a plush rattlesnake, scorpion and coyote. Repeat guests staying longer than ; ve nights are assigned a “personal concierge” to tend to their special needs for that and future stays.

uWhen singer John Mellencamp stayed at the Radisson Hotel in Rapid City, S. D., last April, the hotel’s general manager arranged a private hike in a restricted area atop Mount Rushmore.

uChocolaty confections in the shape of movie clapboards graced Tom Hanks’ Ritz-Carlton room when he arrived in San Francisco for his The Ladykillers press tour last year.
