IN FOCUS: OKLAHOMA DRIVER HELD IN AIRPORT SHOOTING INCIDENT
TULSA Authorities say a police officer at Tulsa International Airport opened fire on a white pickup in the parking lot of a hotel adjacent to the airport’s main terminal building.
Police say a passenger in the truck had moved into the driver’s seat and allegedly attempted to run over the police officer. Authorities say the incident happened at about 4: 30 a. m. Tuesday in the parking lot of a Hilton Garden Inn, which is on airport property.
The Tulsa World reported that there were no injuries.
The newspaper added that police interviewed and released the original driver, who had escaped out of a truck window before surrendering.
The other man, who had threat- ened the officer and fled, later was identified as 38- year- old Richard Neal Kinison.
The Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force later located Kinison and arrested him on several warrants, including auto theft and concealing stolen property. The incident did not affect air traffic at the airport.
The Tulsa World said that Fine Airport Parking employees had reported suspicious activity in one of their parking lots at about 4 a. m.
Hilton Garden Inn manager Grayson Davis said the hotel was not affected, apart from the parking lot being closed while authorities completed their investigation.
