BROWN HELPS COLTS REBOUND, BEAT TITANS

The Indianapolis Colts just keep digging themselves into early holes and then proving they know how to come back and win.

Donald Brown ran for two touchdowns, Andrew Luck added another and the Colts rallied yet again, this time beating the Tennessee Titans 30- 27 after trailing 14- 0 in the first quarter.

“At the end of the day, winning is what matters,” Luck said. “We were fortunate in this game to survive our mistakes and have a chance to win. ... But we know that’s got to be fixed.”

Adam Vinatieri kicked three field goals, including a 50- yarder, and Coby Fleener had a career- high eight catches for 107 yards to help the Colts ( 7- 3) bounce back quite nicely from a 38- 8 home loss to the St. Louis Rams. They have yet to lose backto- back games under coach Chuck Pagano and are 8- 0 coming off a loss.

The Colts are back in charge of the AFC South too, having beaten all three divisional opponents on the road.

“We’re not worried about that yet,” Luck said. “We’re worried about this next game.”

The Titans ( 4- 6) lost their second in a row and fifth in six games, blowing the big lead. Chris Johnson ran for two touchdowns and 70 yards in the first quarter but had 16 yards after that.

“We’ve got to find that winning formula, whatever it is,” Titans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said. “We have to find a way to pull these games out at the end. It’s a tough locker room in there right now. That’s two in a row that kind of slipped away from us. Two big ones, two costly ones for us.”

Jets sign Reed:

Things didn’t work out for Ed Reed and the Houston Texans, so the ballhawking free safety opted for familiarity when he joined his third team in less than a year.

The New York Jets signed the fivetime all- pro and 2004 NFL defensive player of the year.

Reed and Jets coach Rex Ryan spent seven years together with the Baltimore Ravens. Ryan was their defensive coordinator before he took the big promotion in New York after the 2008 season.

Reed, 35, averaged seven interceptions a season in his final three years under Ryan’s tutelage in Baltimore. Antonio Allen and Dawan Landry, a former Ravens teammate of Reed, are the Jets’ starters at safety.

Reed was in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game at the Buffalo Bills. Incognito files grievance: Eleven days after Richie Incognito was suspended for detrimental conduct, the veteran guard filed a noninjury grievance against the Miami Dolphins and is seeking an expedited appeal, the NFL Players Association confirmed in a statement.

“Richie Incognito filed a noninjury grievance against his employer, the Miami Dolphins, pursuant to his rights under the collective bargaining agreement,” the statement read. “Incognito requests that the hearing be held on an expedited basis so that he can immediately resume playing for the team.”

Article 43, Section 4 of the collec- tive bargaining agreement says an expedited hearing would be held within seven days of the grievance being filed and the NFL and players union would engage in good- faith efforts to hear the grievance before the team’s next scheduled game.

Given the timing, it seems unlikely the grievance would be heard before Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers. The Dolphins’ next game after that is Nov. 24 against the Carolina Panthers.

Pryor sits:

Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor missed Sunday’s game in Houston because of a sprained right knee.

The Raiders said undrafted rookie free agent Matt McGloin would start against the Texans.

Pryor had a setback at practice on Friday and had been listed as questionable. He leads all NFL quarterbacks with 504 yards rushing. But he wore a thick brace over his knee during last week’s 24- 20 loss to the New York Giants when he was held to a season- low 19 yards on the ground and sacked four times.
