Trump voters aren’t happy with their choice

- LETTERS LETTERS@ USATODAY. COM

Gabriel Schoenfeld is either naive or not very

bright. The vast majority of Donald Trump supporters are conscientious, conservative Republicans who are stuck with the party’s nominee, who only won because he appealed to those who are fed up with the failures of our country’s leadership.

I think most Trump’s supporters are primarily interested in defeating Hillary Clinton. They’re committed to stopping Clinton, and they’re hoping to preclude liberal progressives from taking over the Supreme Court.

There is no hypocrisy that needs to be punished as asserted by Schoenfeld in his column, “GOP deserves to go down with Trump.” Schoenfeld needs to be more understanding and sympathetic. He needs to rethink his negativism and realize how helpless most Republicans feel in having to support someone they can’t really admire and respect. Their mission is not to elect Trump, it’s to stop Clinton. Our country cannot afford having her as our next president. John Melangton Stuart, Fla.

Sadly, besides America, the world is also tuning

in to witness the erosion of American values in an unprecedented election race.

I was aghast to watch the debate turn into a no- holds- barred sleaze fest, with the trappings of an NC- 17 rated movie. It’s a shame that American politics has degenerated to such a level.

Trump’s road to win the Republican nomination is paved with relentless bigotry, divisiveness, misogyny and xenophobia, and he still believes that this will ultimately propel him to the White House.

Voting for the right candidate and hoping for the best for America will be every voter’s own test on Nov. 8, Election Day, the day that will set the course for generations to come. Atul M. Karnik Woodside, N. Y.
