ROGER AILES, FOX NEWS FOUNDER, DIES AT 77

Roger Ailes, the bombastic and controversial founder and CEO of Fox News ousted last year in a sexual harassment scandal, has died.

Ailes, who reshaped television news over five decades in the TV and entertainment industry, was 77. His death was announced in a statement by his wife, Elizabeth Ailes, according to Fox News. The cause of death was not immediately clear.

Ailes, who ran the network with an iron hand, resigned July 21 following a storm over a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by former Fox anchor Gretchen Carlson. The suit triggered similar claims from other women and an in- house investigation at Fox.

Ailes strongly denied the claims, but stepped down with a $ 40 million severance package.

OFFICIALS APPEAL FOR CALM AFTER OFFICER’S ACQUITTAL

Authorities appealed for calm in Oklahoma after a jury acquitted white Tulsa police Officer Betty Jo Shelby of first- degree manslaughter in the September shooting — caught on video — of a black man who had his hands up.

The family of Terence Crutcher burst into tears and expressed outrage after the jury returned the verdict late Wednesday.

Shelby, 43, says she was driving to another police call Sept. 16 when she came upon Crutcher, standing alongside the road, then saw an SUV straddling the center line with its engine running and doors open. Moments later, backup arrived and dashcams and a police helicopter’s camera began to roll.

The videos show Crutcher, 40, walking toward his SUV with his hands up and his back to multiple officers. Crutcher appears to place his hands on his vehicle when he falls to the ground, shocked with a stun gun fired by one officer and shot by Shelby.

NETHERLANDS KING SECRETLY PILOTED FLIGHTS

King Willem- Alexander of the Netherlands hasn’t been resting on his monarchical laurels, telling Dutch media he has been moonlighting as a copilot for a KLM airlines affiliate for more than two decades.

The king told Holland’s Telegraaf newspaper he co- pilots two KLM Cityhopper flights per month. And now he is training to fly with the big boys, Boeing 737s for KLM itself — coincidentally known as Dutch Royal Airlines.

“You can completely switch off and focus on something else,” he told the Telegraaf.

Willem- Alexander, 50, said he often walks through Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in his pilot uniform without being recognized by his subjects.
