Meghan Markle: A fashion icon emerged in 2017
America’s princess follows future sisterin-law Kate’s steps in setting trends and making designs fly off shelves.
2017 had its ups and downs — but one of the most fashionable ups? Meghan Markle’s wardrobe.
From killer coats to stunning accessories, Prince Harry’s bride-to-be has shown off some seriously stylish duds.
Here are some of our favorite pieces:
Her hat
She went for an array of brown tones last Monday while attending the traditional Christmas Day church service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, England.
The outfit’s highlight: her round Philip Treacy hat with a festive twist detail.
Despite the decorative addition, the caramel-colored hat is not a fascinator, which is a hat-like headpiece that requires a clip to stay on the wearer’s head. Instead, Markle opted for a full-on cap that would help keep her warm (and looking adorable) at the service.
The hat complemented a cinched Sentaler wide-collar camel coat (which is already sold out) paired with matching Dents gloves, suede boots from Stuart Weitzman and a small, round Chloe “Pixie” purse.
Her bag
She bundled up in navy blue for her first official public engagement with fiancé Prince Harry on Dec. 1. in Nottingham, but the outfit’s pièce de résistance was her gorgeous burgundy Strathberry handbag.
The bag, which also sold out, features a golden cross bar, blue folds and cream handles.
The rest of her look included a Mackage military coat, slouchy black boots and large, soft curls.
Her jacket
She wowed in white during her engagement announcement at Kensington Palace on Nov. 27 in London, sporting a jacket that made us envision her as the bride-to-be she is.
The belted jacket was from Canadian brand LINE, which is popular among celebrities for knitwear and coats. The label told USA TODAY that the coat is now sold out and originally retails for $799 CAD, roughly equivalent to $627.
Her shoes
She finished off her engagement announcement look with nude Matilde criss-cross pumps from Aquazzura, which originally retail for $695.
She previously wore the heels to Canada’s One Young World Summit in fall 2016.
Her sunglasses
At the Invictus Games in Toronto on Sept. 25, Markle proved she can be just as stylish dressed down and impressed us in chic Percy Acetate sunglasses by Jigsaw.
She paired the shades with a crisp button-up with slightly torn skinny jeans.
Her tote
She also sported to the games a large brown “Day Market” tote by American retailer Everlane that retails for $165.
The bag matched her brown Natalie flats by Sarah Flint, listed at $345.
Her ring
Of course a list of Markle’s most stylish pieces wouldn’t be complete without her eye-popping engagement ring!
The sparkler features two diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal collection and another from Botswana, where the lovebirds spent time together.
Her gown
For her official engagement photos, she went for a statement-making Ralph & Russo gown — and we couldn’t have loved it more.
Golden embroidered feathers stood out on the black mesh, long-sleeved bodice and silk organza skirt.
The skirt could be seen in all of its ruffled glory in a second photo in black-andwhite.
