Six earn A+ and six earn F

Since the start of the col­lege foot­ball reg­u­lar sea­son, USA TO­DAY has been track­ing how each team in the Bowl Sub­di­vi­sion has fared rel­a­tive to pre­sea­son ex­pec­ta­tions. Now, with the sea­son com­plete, let’s hand out some grades.

It’s time to is­sue re­port cards for all 130 teams, with marks rang­ing from A+ through a com­plete fail­ure — the dreaded F. Five teams, in­clud­ing South­ern Cal­i­for­nia, drew a fail­ing grade. Six teams aced the grade with an A+, led by Clem­son.

Re­mem­ber that grades are sub­ject to how each team was pred­i­cated to fare back in Au­gust. For ex­am­ple, Bay­lor finish­ing 7-6 is differ­ent than the Uni­ver­sity of Mi­ami do­ing the same, since the Bears were com­ing off a 1-11 sea­son and Mi­ami was pre­dicted to con­tend for a con­fer­ence cham­pi­onship and New Year’s Six bowl berth. Bay­lor drew an Awhile the Hur­ri­canes earned a D+ grade.

So put those pen­cils down, log off the com­puter, pass in your final exam and sit pa­tiently while the grades are com­piled. Here’s the 2018 re­port card:
