Six earn A+ and six earn F

Since the start of the college football regular season, USA TODAY has been tracking how each team in the Bowl Subdivisio­n has fared relative to preseason expectatio­ns. Now, with the season complete, let’s hand out some grades.

It’s time to issue report cards for all 130 teams, with marks ranging from A+ through a complete failure — the dreaded F. Five teams, including Southern California, drew a failing grade. Six teams aced the grade with an A+, led by Clemson.

Remember that grades are subject to how each team was predicated to fare back in August. For example, Baylor finishing 7-6 is different than the University of Miami doing the same, since the Bears were coming off a 1-11 season and Miami was predicted to contend for a conference championsh­ip and New Year’s Six bowl berth. Baylor drew an Awhile the Hurricanes earned a D+ grade.

So put those pencils down, log off the computer, pass in your final exam and sit patiently while the grades are compiled. Here’s the 2018 report card:
