Nats showed respect for presidency
The Washington Nationals demonstrated how a team can overcome odds to win a championship. Christine Brennan got it wrong in her column criticizing the team’s visit to the White House.
Catcher Kurt Suzuki was, in his words, “just trying to have some fun” when he donned a MAGA hat. Brennan says Suzuki made the moment political. Perhaps Brennan is making it political, or the players who chose not to attend had already made it political.
Respect for the office of the presidency is something every American should possess. Joe Burrow, Louisiana State University quarterback, captured this sentiment when he said presidential attendance at an upcoming LSU game would be good regardless of politics. The White House symbolizes that office. It’s an honor to be invited. Donald H. Kincade
