R+ L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Louisiana Tech vs. Georgia Southern

3: 30 ET, ESPN Mercedes- Benz Superdome

Louisiana Tech ( 5- 4) wasn’t a regular in bowl games before head coach Skip Holtz took over. But he is 6- 0, including a shocking 14- 0 win over Miami in last year’s Independence Bowl. Forget about the passing game for Georgia Southern ( 7- 5), especially with QB Shai Werts hurting with a shoulder injury. The option offense runs, runs some more and controls the clock and the tempo. Nine of the Eagles’ 12 games have been decided by a touchdown or less. Even in this environment, there should be an interesting atmosphere in Mercedes- Benz Superdome. This is supposed to be the landing spot for the Sun Belt champ, but that’s not happening this year and Louisiana Tech is relatively close to home. Prediction: Louisiana Tech 27- 23

Montgomery Bowl

Florida Atlantic vs. Memphis

7 ET, ESPN Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala.

This isn’t the Memphis ( 7- 3) of last year that won the American Athletic Conference title and pushed Penn State in a wild Cotton Bowl. However, it has a good offense and several key parts back from last year’s team, including veteran QB Brady White, and it’s on a run of four wins in the last five games. If this all works well for FAU ( 5- 3), you’re probably not going to like this bowl. Willie Taggart’s Owls play great defense, are good at slowing the pace and usually find ways to win grinding games. The team comes in on a two- game losing streak after getting into a stunning shootout loss to Southern Mississippi. Prediction: Memphis 34- 20
