Barbarians behind the walls of power

- LETTERS@ USATODAY. COM

Wednesday’s violent Capitol Hill protests over Donald Trump’s election loss are the result of actions by a president who wants to undermine the American system and hold on to power. These aren’t bad people, but they have been misled.

And apparently so have some members of Congress who pushed back against the certification of Joe Biden as the next president.

What is the endgame?

We are certainly aware of Trump’s desire to fabricate votes in Georgia. This is the embodiment of evil seen in the prelude to totalitarian dictatorships. Our nation stands on the precipice. Our people are hurting. We must return to unity.

If Trump’s entire presidency proves anything, it’s that barbarians are already behind the walls of power. Henry J. H. Wilson

Barrington, Ill.

Watching Trump’s and the GOP’s actions this past week should show us they are not the right individuals to make decisions for our country. America is better than the harmful acts the president has exhibited. His endless battle to try and separate us is shocking. It’s time for Americans to stand up and say enough is enough.
