Impeachment is a nine- step process:
1. Speaker of the House says House will impeach if Trump doesn’t resign or isn’t removed by 25th Amendment.
2. Articles of impeachment are introduced by House members.
3. House votes on how impeachment will be conducted.
4. In an expedited impeachment, committee investigations and public hearings won’t be held.
5. The House Judiciary Committee ( or majority and minority leaders) lead debate before the full House votes on articles.
6. Full House votes whether to send articles to Senate. It could allow the House Speaker to decide when to send the articles.
7. Senate majority leadership decides when and how trial will be conducted.
8. Trial is held, with Senate acting as jury.
9. Senate votes to acquit or convict. A vote to convict requires a two- thirds majority, 67 of 100.
