WHATSAPP ADDS LAYER OF BIOMETRIC SECURITY
WhatsApp users with biometric authentication on their phones will now have added security. The Facebookowned platform announced on Twitter that the new feature requiring a user’s face and fingerprints to link devices were to roll out Thursday. The messaging app currently has more than 2 billion users. Once a user tries to access their WhatsApp account on the web or desktop app, they will be required to verify their identity using the face or fingerprint unlock on their phone. They then will still have to scan a QR code with their phones.
