PRICE CHOPPER TO MERGE WITH TOPS MARKETS
Price Chopper/ Market 32 and Tops Markets announced Monday they have entered a merger deal, bringing together two of upstate New York's largest supermarket chains. The companies said the agreement would double their footprint in the Northeast. Price Chopper, based in Schenectady, New York, and founded in 1932, has 130 stores across the Northeast. Top Markets, based in Williamsville in Erie County, has 162 grocery stores in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont, and 14,000 workers.
